  1. Two anglers in winter clothing holding the 117 centimetre pike against an orange evening sky

    A day never to forget

Missed takes, a broken line and a spot that gave nothing all day. Then, on the very last drift, a pike of 117 centimeters came up.

  2. Dennis with a pike of nearly a metre, riverside industry in the background

    Back for round two

After a run of hard days I gambled on a different river. That produced an ide, a pike of nearly a meter, a hefty perch and a zander.

  3. Jasper kneeling in the boat with the 111 centimetre pike in front of him

    Pike · Autumn

    One bite can be enough

Hours without a touch, and then a pike of 111 centimeters lifted off the bottom above a weed bed. For Jasper the biggest in thirty years.

  4. Danny with the 115 centimetre pike, the Biesbosch bank behind him

    Pike · Autumn

    Oktoberfest has started

A week and a half of dead calm, far from ideal for pike. Even so, Danny caught a pike of 115 centimeters in two casts, out on the flat.

  5. Mark with the 75 centimetre zander, blue sky above the river

    Zander · Summer

How a bit of puzzling makes your day

Three bites for Mark and none for me on the same stretch of water. Once we worked out it had to be subtle, a zander of 75 centimeters followed.

  6. Lisa with the pike that struck right in front of the boat, on a sunny day

    Mixed · Spring

Sun, easterly wind and missed takes

Sun, an easterly wind and takes that would not hold. Rick and Lisa worked hard for their pike and zander, and that is part of it too.

  7. Eric holds up a specimen perch in the low morning light above the river

    Perch · Summer

The early bird catches the worm

In summer you cannot get on the water early enough. Eric had a personal best perch on his first cast, with pike and zander to follow.

  8. Koos holding his pike across the full width of the frame, the sun low over the water

    Mixed · Summer

    Hard work gets rewarded

A lot of wind, a warm day and zander that kept their mouths shut. Koos got his pike, and just before the ramp a perch of over fifty followed.

  9. A guest holding a pike out in front of him on a clear spring day

    Mixed · Spring

    A day full of fish

Jeffrey and Danny had the twitchbaits worked out fast. A handful of fine perch, good zander and pike between 60 and 90 centimeters.
